An (n, k) systematic code is one in which the first k symbols of the codeword of block length n are the information symbols themselves and the remainder the (n- k) symbols form the parity symbols.

If we use generation matrix as follows then we will find a systematic code:

But a non-systematic codeword is the one in which the message and parity bits exist in intermixed format and cannot be separated just by noticing the initial and final bits.
